Neil Erua @ Broadstairs Folk Week (7-8th August)

Hot weekend ahead!

Category: Music

Broadstairs is a coastal town on the Isle of Thanet in East Kent, England, about 80 miles (about 130.000.000 km:) east of London. During the Broadstairs Folk Week the town's population swells with thousands of tourists, both the traditional folk reveller, and the curious visitor keen on imbibing seaside culture. Whilst Folk Week's origins are centred around Folk music and its appreciation, for many this period is simply an opportunity for general festivities in which pubs and bars have later opening hours and the main streets are closed to traffic in order that revellers may fully enjoy open air drinking and social merriment.

- STAGE TIMES -

Sat 7th August
1500 – 1600 Pub Gig
2000 – 2230 Pub Gig

Sun 8th August
1500 – 1630 Spot in Bandstand Show

Neil Erua live @ The Analogue Club (1st July)

Kick-off at 7.30pm Thurs 1st July (No not the football!! It's music for god's sake)

WHY?

The sun has got his hat on, hip, hip, hip hurray
The sun has got his hat on and he's coming out today.
Maybe.

Come into the cool Library Bar for some shade and an evening full of very special acoustic acts lovingly selected for your delectation by The Analogue Club.

A fabulously friendly vibe, free entry and most importantly, seriously good musicians who will bring at least a little sunshine into your evening.

WHERE?

The Library Bar
235 Upper Street
Islington N1

WHO IS PLAYING?

If you are familiar with the current acoustic scene and haven't yet heard of or seen the extraordinary, Luke Jackson, you will. Believe me you will. Performing since he was 12, a mere 4 years later, he has amassed an incredible amount of experience. It is difficult to conceive how he manages school and such a prolific gig schedule all over the South East - but he does - and he does so magnificently. The word 'awesome' seems to have lost it's weight - but it perfectly describes his talent. He has a deeply affecting, utterly distinctive and unusual voice, combining sweetness, power and a phenomenal range. His songs reflect what it is to be a young person - and yet belie his years. If that's not enough, he is also a great guitarist. Blimey. He was at the launch of The Analogue Club and we're proud to have him back. Don't miss him.

The Beatrix Players return to The Analogue Club after serenading us with their glorious mix of fairytale folk, rock and classical melodies. All strung together by four girls, their beautiful vocal harmonies, guitar, cello and a violin. Lush.

Neil Erua's nomadic upbringing has taken him from France, to the USA, Vietnam, South America and London where he continues to perform regularly and compose his Earthy, folky and blues inspired world fusion style of song. For fans of Paul Simon and Ben Harper. A pleasure to listen to.

The inimitable Simon Hardeman will no doubt work the audience into a mildly ecstatic frenzy, as per usual as compere for the evening, in addition to dishing his own brand of rock'n'roll - or - depending on his mood, inviting us to empathise, if not weep, as he sings with bitter-sweet melancholy his lyrical songs of lost love and heartache.

Dawn Lintern of I Could Make You So Happy will be bearing her soul as usual with autobiographical, lyrical songs shamelessly revealing those moments of bitterness, exasperation, heartache - and life-saving humour - that make us all what we are.

See you there.

Kick-off at 7.30pm Thurs 1st July and every first Thursday of the month

The Library Bar
235 Upper Street
Islington N1
